About our paper
Updated 5 October 2026
Our paper is made in small batches, and variation is part of its character.
What to expect
No two handmade sheets are perfectly identical. You may notice small differences in shade, fibre distribution, surface texture, thickness and overall feel from one sheet or batch to another.
Tiny fibre inclusions, flecks or specks can appear in the sheet. These are a normal result of making paper by hand and are not, by themselves, defects.
Deckle edges
Where a product is described as deckle-edged, the edge is intentionally irregular. The shape and softness of the edge will vary from sheet to sheet.
Size and thickness
Handmade production can result in small dimensional differences and slight variation in thickness across a sheet. Product measurements and GSM should therefore be understood as practical specifications rather than a promise of machine-made uniformity.
Printing and writing
The surface of handmade paper can affect how ink, toner, paint and other media sit on the sheet. Very wet inks may behave differently from coated or machine-made paper. If you are planning a large print or custom order, testing a sample first is a good idea.
Care
Store paper flat, dry and away from prolonged direct sunlight or moisture. Handmade paper can respond to humidity, especially at deckle edges.
If you receive the wrong product, substantial transit damage, missing items, or a genuine manufacturing or printing problem that makes the product unusable, contact us so we can review it. Normal handmade variation is not treated as a defect.
